Green leather-HOME, Fire protection standard specification

In the process of designing home improvement, fire prevention measures are essential. So what is the country’s flame retardant requirements for water-based wall leather?

Let’s briefly analyze it below.

1. About the fire prevention of wallpaper

The wallpaper materials are as follows: pure paper wallpaper, non-woven wallpaper, PVC wallpaper, and some cloth-based wall coverings.

Can the wallpaper be used to prevent fire? It won’t work.

To achieve the effect of fire prevention, it is mainly to see whether the attachment to the wallpaper can meet the requirements of Class A fire prevention.

Here is a brief talk about the national standard fireproof material grade

Class A: Non-combustible building materials, materials that hardly burn

Class A1: Non-combustible, no open flame.

Class A2: Non-combustible, smoke content must be measured and qualified.

Class B1: Flame-retardant building materials. Flame-retardant materials have good flame retardant effects. It is difficult to catch fire in the air or under the action of high temperature, and it is not easy to spread quickly, and the combustion stops immediately when the fire source is removed.

Class B2: combustible building materials, combustible materials have a certain flame retardant effect. When exposed to an open flame in the air or under the action of high temperature, it will catch fire immediately, which is easy to cause the spread of fire, such as wooden pillars, wooden roof trusses, wooden beams, wooden stairs, etc.

As mentioned earlier, the wallpaper must be fireproof. If the attachments of the wallpaper can meet the requirements of Class A fire protection, and the wallpaper is non-flammable, the fire protection effect will be achieved.
According to national standards: According to the provisions of GB 50222—95 “Code for Fire Protection Design of Building Interior Decoration”, Article 2.0.6: Paper or cloth wallpapers with a unit weight of less than 300g/m2 should be directly pasted on the A-level substrate It can be used as a B1 decoration material when it is used.
Note: This item explains that when the wallpaper weight is less than 300g/m2, it can be used directly without testing when it is pasted on cement board or gypsum board.

In addition, in accordance with Article 7.2 of GB8624-1997 “Classification Method for the Combustion Performance of Building Materials”, the thickness of the coating or other finishing layer (such as wallpaper) attached to the surface of the interior decoration substrate by spraying, pasting or other methods thickness ≤0.6mm or mass per unit area ≤300g/m2, regardless of the influence of the finish layer on the combustion characteristics and classification of the substrate. If the thickness of the veneer layer exceeds 0.6mm or the veneer has a significant impact on the combustion characteristics of the substrate, the veneer layer and the substrate should be prepared into a sample for testing, and an overall comprehensive evaluation can be made.

Therefore, it is unscientific to test the fire protection of the wallpaper itself. It is necessary to attach the wallpaper to the actual attachment, that is, the base material, before sending it to the inspection department for inspection. Then there is a problem. The specification only says that paper and cloth wallpapers with a unit weight of less than 300g/m2 do not need to be tested, and if the unit weight exceeds 300g/m2, testing is still required. There is one. In addition to the fire protection requirements of the wall, the wallpaper needs to be non-flammable. How to do it? In fact, flame retardants are added to the wallpaper material to prevent other objects from igniting in the event of a fire. The requirements for fire prevention of wallpaper are mainly in some public buildings, while the requirements for general civil buildings, such as residential buildings, are not high.

Our water-based wall leather of Kaiyue Technology is based on non-woven fabric, and the weight is less than 300g/m2. It is non-flammable and can be used safely for home decoration. Of course, we also have water-based wall leather, water-based soft-coated wall, water-based sofa leather with flame retardant effect. After testing: the flame retardant products of Kaiyue Technology can reach the standard of B1 or above.
