1. Water-based surface treatment synthetic leather

This type of water-based leather is a surface treatment agent that replaces only the surface treatment layer with water.

Although this synthetic leather cannot be called a water-based synthetic leather in the full sense, its significance is also very significant.

Because the style of synthetic leather mainly depends on the surface treatment, the solvent used in the surface treatment agent is not only a wide variety, but also mostly difficult to recycle, and it damages the environment even more than DMF. If this part is fully water-based, its impact is enormous.

In addition, there are dozens of synthetic leather styles, such as crazy horse, sheep, polishing, etc., which is the key link of synthetic leather. Only a variety of water-based treatment agents can better meet the market demand.

It is understood that this will be one of the most urgent and fastest-growing aspects of synthetic leather in China in recent years.

2, water-based dry synthetic leather

The key to this type of water-based leather is to replace the dry surface layer and the bonding layer with the surface layer and the bonding layer of the aqueous resin. This type of water-based leather is relatively easy to achieve. Although various problems are encountered in technical applications, they can basically be overcome. This is also one of the more mass-produced products in water-based synthetic leather.

3, water-based semi-PU synthetic leather

The key to this type of water-based leather is that the foam layer is the bottom layer and the surface layer is made of water-based PU resin.

Compared with the water-based dry synthetic leather, this kind of water-based leather has a layer of foamed layer, so it is better than the ordinary water-based dry synthetic leather, and it is also one of the currently better water-based synthetic leathers. It has some advantages of PVC leather and PU leather.

This is also one of the current mass production of water-based synthetic leather, mainly used in sofa leather, decorative leather and so on.

4, water-based imitation wet synthetic leather

Such water-based leathers can be essentially divided into two types, one is to replace the conventional DMF foam layer with an aqueous foaming resin.

This technique is also a dry process in nature, but because it is a foamed layer having a cell structure (spherical closed cell foam) which is mechanically foamed by an aqueous resin, a solvent-type foamed layer is replaced by a physical method. Because it is a foamed layer, the base fabric is not impregnated, nor does it form a vertical cell structure (vertical cells) similar to that formed after DMF precipitation, so it can only be a “wet wet method”.

However, because of physical foaming, there are certain problems in cell uniformity and stability in mass production. At present, such water-based synthetic leathers have been mass-produced, but further exploration and improvement is needed for large-scale applications, but the company has claimed that the technology has made breakthroughs.

The other is to use a solvent-free PU resin as a foam layer and a water-based resin as a top layer. This is also a category with great prospects for future development.

5, all-waterborne wet synthetic leather

This type of water-based leather is the highest level of water-based synthetic leather products. The key is to use an aqueous resin to impregnate the base fabric and solidify to form a water-based synthetic leather Base containing a foamed layer.
